Nutrients required for maintaining a healthy and radiant skin

This is a common perception that whenever someone dreams of achieving a flawless skin, they only think about makeup and beauty products. Some even go to greater extent such as laser-treatments. But such products and treatments primarily focus on the outer appearance of the skin and they do not last long. Although right cleansing, exfoliation, moisture level and sun protection is required for maintaining a good and healthy skin but only depending on the cosmetic products is not the right way for doing that. There are many ways to make your skin healthy and radiant from within. 

One of the greatest alternatives for cosmetic products and treatments is the right food items. Intake of the right foods offers the body required nutrients that it needs to generate healthy, glowing, soft and supple skin. You can achieve a beautiful skin from inside out by the consumption of a diet in proteins, vitamins and minerals.

Omega 3 fatty acids

The biggest source of Omega 3 fatty acid is cold water fishes. These acids are highly required for having good heart and skin health. If you are complete vegetarian, take a sign of relief as there are plant sources of Omega 3 as well. Chia seeds are the best plant source for veg-eaters and they also tastes good. You can eat chia seeds separately or you can mix them in your shakes and salads. Walnuts and fax seeds are other options for obtaining omega 3.

Studies have suggested that omega 3 is great for skin as it helps retain moisture and protects skin from any sort of infections. It also acts as an anti-aging agent and restricts the formation of fine lines and wrinkles.

Anti-oxidants

Antioxidants are essential in order to protect your skin from free radical damage. Make sure you eat food items that provide good dose of antioxidants.  

Fiber

You might already know how beneficial fiber is for digestion and maintaining cholesterol levels. But are you aware that it is beneficial for your skin too. Fiber in soluble form prevents carbohydrates to turn into sugar. This keeps insulin levels in control which in turn do not cause inflammation. Inflammation is highly responsible for all kinds of skin problems and also speeds up skin aging. Fiber is essential to keep inflammation down and to keep your skin younger looking.  

Vitamin E

It is not produced in our body naturally so it is gained from the food that we consume. The best source of Vitamin E is almonds. Other food items that are rich sources of Vitamin E are nuts, avocados, mangoes, chia seeds, spinach and sweet potatoes. You need to have daily dosage of 15 mg per day.

Zinc

Zinc is an anti-inflammatory mineral and it helps in repairing and renewing skin cells when they get damaged. It is also helpful in protecting the skin against the harmful rays of UV rays and pollution. With adequate amount of zinc in your body, you can heal faster from any sort of skin damage.
