Some home remedies for vaginal yeast infection

Introduction: Even while vaginal yeast infection might not be chronic, it is highly uncomfortable and makes it harder for a person to do daily tasks as it creates pain and discomfort. Itching, irritation, inflammation, swelling, abrupt redness in and around the vulva, and a foul, greyish-white discharge are the main symptoms of vaginal yeast infection. Candida albicans, the kind of Candida fungus that causes vaginal yeast infection, is commonly referred to as Yeast vaginitis, Candidal vaginitis, or Candidal vulvovaginitis. This fungus can infect men as well, but it is typically more found in women like any other sexually transmitted disease.

It can take place due to the following causes:

• Deficiency of the female hormone estrogen

• Allergy

• Skin irritates like vaginal sprays, perfumed soap, washes, etc.

• Underlying infections

• Sexual activity

But there is no need to worry, if you are suffering from this uncomfortable disease, try some of the following home remedies that are easily available in your house:

1. Tea tree oil and honey: Tea tree oil is an essential oil used to help kill bacteria, fungi, and viruses. This oil, which has strong anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-viral properties, is extremely valuable for treating dry, chafed, and inflamed skin. On the other hand, honey moisturizes irritated skin. Tea tree oil may produce a little irritation, so it is important to dilute it in warm water before applying it to the region. To acquire effective results, you can mix a few drops of tea tree oil with lukewarm water and a tablespoon of honey before applying it.

2. Vitamin C: Vitamin C is well known as an immune system booster that keeps you away from the common cold. But it can be used orally to aid in the treatment of yeast infections. It has been observed to have antibacterial and antifungal properties, which will fight against the yeast infection. Citrus fruits and leafy greens are good sources of vitamin C.

3. Coconut oil: Coconut oil is effective against Candida albicans yeast due to its antifungal properties. You can apply raw organic coconut oil internally or externally for instant relief. Also, other effective antifungal essential oils like oil of oregano or tea tree oil can be added to warm coconut oil as a carrier oil.

4. Apple cider vinegar: It has both antifungal and antibacterial effects. This means that it can manage and stop yeast and bacterial overgrowth in the body. Apple cider vinegar appears to work by inhibiting Candida from adhering to smooth surfaces. Due to the yeast’s inability to bind together and remain in the vagina, apple cider vinegar can aid in preventing a yeast infection.

5. Boric acid: Strong antiseptic boric acid can help treat infections that are unresponsive to other treatments. In the past, vaginal suppositories containing boric acid were used to treat vaginal infections. But it can be harmful in large amounts. It may result in abrupt circulatory failure, renal injury, or even death. Therefore, boric acid should not be ingested or applied to broken skin.

As with the majority of over-the-counter yeast infection medicines, home cures for yeast infections should start to work within a week but consult your healthcare provider if your symptoms persist. You might require a long-term antifungal medication, to completely get rid of the infection and stop further ones.
